Welcome to Guatemala!

Blog post written by Jenni Ramsey

Our team arrived safely last night after an uneventful day of travel.  We were greeted at the airport by our dear missionary hosts, Art and Lisa Camarena, and miraculously fit 27 pieces of luggage into two cars and a van.

Upon arrival at the Camarena's home, we received a traditional Guatemalan welcome of fireworks.  Fortunately no one dropped to the ground in terror (as Roberta Keenan did on her first trip to Guatemala, fearing that she was hearing gunfire).   Welcome to Guatemala!  We walked into their beautiful home and were overwhelmed by the sounds of marimba music, the welcoming notes and gifts on our beds and the huge spread of Guatemalan and North American snacks.  Yum!

Today we will be hosting a wedding for two precious couples, both of whom have been together for many, many years, but have never been able to afford a wedding.  Yesterday over twenty volunteers spent the day at Art and Lisa' home cooking, baking wedding cakes, preparing flowers and final details for the big celebration...

Stay tuned for more!  The wifi is intermittent, so we may not be able to communicate as much as we'd like to.  Thank you for your support and prayers!
